• Step up to high resolution: Mainland China makers are adopting highresolution CMOS and CCD sensors and better chipsets such as Ambarella. Releases can support as much as 16MP still images and 1080p videos, and 10x digital and 8x optical zoom. Many employ lenses from Taiwan, Japan and Germany.
• Features integration: Suppliers are combining 3D, touchscreen, GPS and wireless connectivity. Most upscale units support USB 3.0 and HDMI 1.4. Solar-powered models reflect “green” trends. More releases will have slowmotion and smile capture, and motion detection.
• Housing design: Anti-leakage and water-resistant casings are emphasized. ABS is the main material used. Midrange and high-end versions adopt aluminum alloy, AlMg and titanium.
• Price & export forecasts: Quotes are projected to be stable in 1H12.
