• Safety: Responding to health and environmental concerns, flower pot manufacturers are adopting materials containing less or no toxic substances. Those offering plastic designs are opting for PP and PE instead of PC. In terms of surface treatment, suppliers are employing nonvolatile coatings. Electroplating is done using no heavy metal.
• Durability: Resistance to acid, alkali and other substances is being enhanced primarily through surface treatment. The latest releases feature coatings 10 to 30 percent thicker than older models.
• Wider selection: Flower pot suppliers are offering a range of colors, shapes and surface treatments to match or complement various interior and exterior styles. LED-fitted designs are also growing in number.
• Price & export projections: Quotes will remain relatively stable in the months ahead, with suppliers expecting the yuan’s appreciation to offset the effects of a 5 to 10 percent slide in raw material costs. Shipments to the EU are expected to decline due to the debt crisis, but overall exports in 1H12 are anticipated to grow about 5 percent.
